COPYRIGHT
Here is an interesting example about use of photographs in the graphic design field. How far can copyright go, how far can people break it? See the example of the famous poster of Barack Obama.

EXHIBITION

Krystof Kriz. A native to Prague, Kriz has studied, practiced and exhibited his work in Germany, The Netherlands, France, Czech Republic, UK, India, Poland and Lithuania.
In this body of recent work, Kriz is making investigations into how travellers create a sense of place in their minds eye with seemingly random sets of foreign visual stimuli. While his photographs have a consistently inquisitive and contemplative mood, subject matter ranges wildly from grazing sheep on fertile grass to busy bright market stalls. These images stem from the eye of a traveller or the eye of an outsider tuned and less likely to take details for granted while searching for meaning in a strange place.
For this exhibition works are presented in pairs and groups in terms of formal compositional relationships. For instance, a freshly rained upon and austere Edinburgh cityscape including glimpses of warm orange interiors is paired with an extreme, almost abstracted close up of rust. At first glance, these two images share a great deal in terms of colour, but little else. The viewer is left to make further personal, theoretical or emotional connections as one often does when drawing from stimulus while travelling. Considering each image as a snapshot impression encountered while travelling, then pausing to contemplate - we can get lost in pondering concepts such as the effect of rain and climate on places, on peoples and on oneself...
Enjoy the journey of this artist’s eye – I hope it takes you to new and interesting places. I wish to personally thank Krystof for his participation in the City Inn Exhibition Programme.
